JPEG2000 is an OGC-compliant wavelet compression format. Being and open format, JPEG2000 can be created and read by a variety of GIS applications, and allows for a streaming service of data within ERDAS APOLLO IWS or ADVANTAGE. JPEG2000 files can be created using ERDAS IMAGINE and ERDAS ER Mapper.

National Imagery Transmission Format (NITF)

NITF is a standard developed by U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Federal Intelligence Community (IC) for exchanging, storing and sending raster data. An NITF collection can consist of the raster image itself, along with related files such as overlays, sub-images, symbols, vectors, labels and text. The standard is included in the ISO/IEC 15444-1 standard for raster compression, as JPEG2000 wavelet compression is possible for all raster formats inside an NITF collection. NITF can be produced using the NITF 2.1 module for ERDAS IMAGINE.
