Two Finalists from the Netherlands at the IGNITE Competition

Capelle aan den Ijssel, The Netherlands

Earlier in 2016 Hexagon Geospatial launched the IGNITE challenge – a competition designed to encourage individuals and teams to build Hexagon Smart M.Apps for a grand prize of US$ 100,000. Smart M.Apps are cloud applications that deliver dynamic information experience to users.

Participants had to choose from one of the six pre-defined themes to build apps – food, infrastructure, safety, environmental protection, health and finance. Since February 2016, IGNITE sessions were held around the world to help interested participants learn more about the technology and gain insight into the competition. On June 14 at the annual HxGN LIVE conference in United States the 20 finalists selected by a panel of judges were announced. Among the finalists two nominations from the Netherlands where Imagem is the premium partner and distributor of Hexagon Geospatial technology and solutions.

The Municipality of Nijmegen was selected based on the idea of developing a Smart Emission Dashboard, where environmental issues such as air-quality and noise are measured, combined with historical data made available to the public. This app is aimed at providing trend analysis of the environmental quality for the public.

Antea Group was selected for their idea of Smart Charge Electric Transportation. Keeping up with the trends of environment-friendly transportation and the increase of electric cars in the Netherlands, this Smart M.App portal will provide insight into optimising locations to create electric transport charging points.

In the coming months, the twenty finalists with Hexagon Geospatial’s support will transform their ideas into fully-functioning Smart M.Apps. The app-building is to be completed by September 2016, and the winner and runners-up can be announced in December.
